Mahattattva in association with University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education debuts its acclaimed Education Entrepreneurship curriculum on a global scale through a new Education Entrepreneurship & Innovation Certificate Program. The certificate program provides the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to seed, accelerate, and scale entrepreneurial practice in education. Led by renowned Penn faculty and industry experts, the program blends expertise, research, and practice from the Schools of Education, Business, Design and Engineering. In addition, our global network of industry leaders, investors and entrepreneurs share their journey stories.
Through an immersive three-day bootcamp, the Education Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, brings critical lessons from Penn GSE's groundbreaking work in education innovation to cities around the globe. The onsite sessions, paired with online modules, bring together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and practitioners, to create leading-edge solutions in education. The certificate provides the critical knowledge, skills, and tools needed to seed, accelerate, and scale entrepreneurial practice in education.

Dr. Barbara (Bobbi) Kurshan has honed her vision of "what can be" using technology while supporting the growth of new education companies and developing innovative software products. She currently serves as a Senior Fellow and Innovation Advisor at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania where she builds and advises education innovation ecosystems for researchers, teaches, investors and entrepreneurs.
Previously, as the President of Educorp Consultants Corporation she provided strategic consulting in the areas of education, technology and innovation; and as the Executive Vice President of WorldSage, a consortium of for-profit higher education institutions in the EU to address education for the 21st century. As the past Executive Director of Curriki she helped to build one of the most innovative and robust global open source education communities.
Dr. Kurshan has previously served as the Co-CEO of Core Learning, an education investment fund, and the Chief Academic Officer of bigchalk. She currently serves on the Board of several companies including APEI, Tulane University College of Engineering and Science, and many education technology companies.

Jenny Zapf, Ph.D. is the Founding Director of the MSEd/MBA in Education Entrepreneurship at Penn's Graduate School of Education and the Wharton School. In 2019, Dr. Zapf, Dr. Kurshan and Mr. Legrand launched Penn's Global Certificate in Education Innovation.
Dr. Zapf has trained thousands of education, business, and industry leaders on building, scaling and evaluating new ventures. She has held leadership roles in higher education institutions, non-profit incubators and research institutes.
At Penn, she teaches the first course in Education Evaluation for Innovation. Dr. Zapf's research looks at how we cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
Dr. Zapf received a MA in Educational Policy and Administration from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Educational Evaluation from the University of Virginia.
Maria is a Founder and Co-CEO of HolonIQ, an education market intelligence platform with the world's most sophisticated education market datasets.
Prior to HolonIQ, Maria was the head of digital learning futures for a $40m corporate venture fund and innovation arm of a global education company. In this role, Maria worked with EdTech start-ups and founders around the world to support their growth, and led research projects about the future of learning, such as Global EdTech Landscape and Higher Education Digital Transformation.
Maria has worked in public and private higher education for over 20 years in Asia and Australia specializing in transforming education through technology.
As the global head of Learning & Teaching Services for a global education company, Maria built and led global innovation teams, driving innovation in curriculum, teaching and the student experience in over 50 countries.

Serrano Legrand is a 4th year Doctoral Candidate in Teaching, Learning and Leading at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. His research and work spans the intersections of entrepreneurialism, innovation, risk-taking and leadership development for all actors across the education ecosystem (including but not limited to classroom teachers, school administrators, district superintendents and aspiring education entrepreneurs). He is also the current global projects coordinator for Penn GSE's new global certificate program in education entrepreneurship and innovation.
For the past 5 years, Serrano has consulted and worked with over 500 educational leaders to build their capacities in imagining and enacting a better education system for students.
Prior to his time at Penn, Serrano taught and held various leadership positions in a K-12 setting for 5 years. He also founded two after-school programs that sought to build the entrepreneurial capacities of his students.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Serrano graduated from Northeastern University with his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) as well as Relay's Graduate School of Education with a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT).
Deepti has been an educator, having worked in schools in India and the UK. Winner of the Microsoft Innovative Teachers’ Leadership Award, she represented India at Seoul in 2005. She completed her Certificate of Educational Studies from The College of Teachers, Institute of Education, London, UK and has trained in Teaching Languages through Technology from Trinity College, UK with a Distinction Grade in her ICT project from Consultant-E, Spain. She was the Leader for ICT at the British School for six years and has been a teacher educator for Technology Integration for the last 15 years now.
Before setting up Mahattattva, she worked as Head, ICT Initiatives, Learn Today, Learning Division of the India Today Group where she was responsible for providing consultations to schools on technology integration, she spearheaded technology initiatives in all the projects that Learn Today undertook and also conducted teacher development programmes in technology integration (India and Bhutan). She also wrote the technology curriculum for the teacher resource book for The Royal Academy, Bhutan.
She is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Technology and working with Google India on NCERT projects for teacher training.
In March 2019, she was awarded the BETT Asia Leadership Award at Kuala Lumpur for her work on ‘Design Thinking for Social Change’ project. This project is globally recognised and has been made into a case-study by UPenn, US.
